We’ve run many deals and promotions throughout the year, but none quite compare to this gift bundle! For the price of just one Aries Grinder, you’ll also receive a Katze Coffee Scale and the FLOW Tritan Dripper 02, a champion dripper born from the collaboration between Hario Taiwan and Tri-Up Coffee, designed by Erik Liao, 2023 Taiwan Brewers Cup Champion. This bundle gives you nearly 15% off the original total price, savings you could use to get better coffee beans, which we always recommend, especially now that you have top-tier brewing tools in hand.
Heading into 2025, most coffee lovers, ourselves included, own more than one dripper. Our team alone uses over ten different kinds, but only a few are in regular rotation. And the FLOW Dripper is one of them.
Designed and developed by Erik Liao, founder of Tri-Up Coffee and 2023 Taiwan Brewers Cup Champion, the FLOW Dripper reflects his brewing philosophy. After more than four years of research, design, and refinement, he created a one-of-a-kind flat-bottom dripper featuring a removable base and a magnetic central column. Its internal structure and rib design increase the contact efficiency between coffee grounds and water, resulting in improved extraction consistency. Unlike many flat-bottom drippers, the FLOW maintains a stable flow rate throughout the entire brew, even as brew time increases. It effectively prevents clogging and reduces the risk of over-extraction. The result? More uniform extraction and a cup that’s brighter and more flavorful compared to other flat-bottom brewers.
This dripper brings Eric’s vision to life: one that supports finer grind sizes, sometimes even finer than espresso, and flexible brewing styles. You can grind fine or coarse. Brew fast or slow. The name "FLOW" not only reflects its consistent flow rate but also invites brewers to experiment, express themselves, and truly enjoy the art of brewing.
According to Erik, here are two interesting recipe directions using the Flow Dripper (both based on light roast coffee):
This recipe brings out more sweetness and a syrupy texture.
This recipe brings out bright acidity and sweetness.
Erik believes the FLOW dripper offers great flexibility, especially when brewing for flavor profiles that emphasize bright acidity and clarity. On the other hand, higher sweetness levels often contribute positively to a coffee’s overall balance, particularly at lower temperatures, where sweetness helps maintain structure.
You may notice that the recipes above use relatively small amounts of coffee. That’s because, since 2020, Erik has been advocating for fine-grind brewing. In some extreme cases, he even grinds finer than for espresso. To brew successfully under such fine conditions, the most critical factor is even extraction. For Erik, the FLOW dripper is the embodiment of that philosophy. It enables finer grinding and lower coffee doses, which not only brews effectively but also reduces coffee consumption, supporting greater sustainability in the coffee industry.
